۞ And when the son of Maryam (Mary) is quoted as an example [i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus) is worshipped like their idols), behold! Your people cry aloud (laugh out at the example). 57 And they say, "Are our gods best, or he?" This they set forth to thee, only by way of disputation: yea, they are a contentious people. 58 He was naught but a servant on whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the children of Israel. 59 If We pleased We could have put angels in place of you as trustees on the earth. 60 And most surely it is a knowledge of the hour, therefore have no doubt about it and follow me: this is the right path. 61 Let not Satan misdirect you. He is your open enemy. 62 When Jesus came with the signs, he said: "I have come to you with authority, and to explain some thing about which you are at variance. So fear God, and follow me. 63 “Allah is indeed my Lord, and yours – therefore worship Him; this is the Straight Path.” 64 Then the factions fell apart among themselves. So woe to the wrong-doers from the chastisement of a grievous Day. 65 Are they looking for aught but the Hour, that it shall come upon them suddenly, when they are not aware? 66 On that Day even bosom friends shall become enemies to one another, all except the God-fearing. 67
