۞ And when the son of Maryam (Mary) is quoted as an example [i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus) is worshipped like their idols), behold! Your people cry aloud (laugh out at the example). 57 And they said, "Are your gods better, or is he?" They did not present the comparison except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute. 58 Jesus was a servant of Ours to whom We had granted favors and whom We made as an example for the Israelites. 59 Had We willed, We would have appointed angels among you to be successors in the earth. 60 It is knowledge of the Hour; doubt not concerning it, and follow me. This is a straight path. 61 do not let Satan bar your way. He is truly your sworn enemy. 62 And when (Prophet) Jesus came with clear signs, he said: 'I have come to you with wisdom and to clarify to you some of the matters about which you differ. Fear Allah and obey me. 63 Allah is my Lord and your Lord; therefore, serve Him. That is the Straight Way.” 64 Yet the parties differed among themselves. So woe to those who did evil among the punishment of a Painful Day. 65 Are they awaiting anything other than the Last Hour that it should suddenly come upon them without their even perceiving it? 66 Friends on that Day will be foes one to another except Al-Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 67
