۞ When (Jesus) the son of Mary is held up as an example, behold, thy people raise a clamour thereat (in ridicule)! 57 saying, "Are our gods better or him?" -- they cite him only to challenge you: they are a contentious people -- 58 He is naught but a bondman: him We favoured, and him We made an ensample unto the Children of Israil. 59 If We had so willed We could have made some of you into angels to become your successors on earth. 60 And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way. 61 Let not Satan bar you; he is for you a manifest foe. 62 And when Isa came with clear arguments he said: I have come to you indeed with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you part of what you differ in; so be careful of (your duty to) Allah and obey me: 63 For God, He is my Lord and your Lord: so worship Him: that is a straight path." 64 But the sects from among themselves differed. So woe to those who do wrong (by ascribing things to 'Iesa (Jesus) that are not true) from the torment of a painful Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 65 Are they looking for anything except the Hour (to overtake them). It will come upon them suddenly when they are unaware! 66 Friends on that day will be foes, one to another,- except the Righteous. 67
