Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha Mim 1 By the manifest Book (this Quran) that makes things clear, 2 Surely We revealed it on a blessed night surely We are ever warning-- 3 In it every wise matter is determined 4 As commands from Us. It is indeed We who send (messengers), 5 (As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 6 Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them, if you would be certain. 7 There is no god but He. He quickeneth and causeth to die: your Lord and Lord of your forefathers. 8 But they are in doubt, amusing themselves. 9 Wait for the day (which will come before the Day of Judgment) when the sky will give out dense smoke 10 Which would envelope mankind. That would be a grievous affliction. 11 (Then they will say): Our Lord relieve us of the torment. Lo! we are believers. 12 How shall they be reminded, and there came to them an Apostle making clear (the truth), 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 Lo! We withdraw the torment a little. Lo! ye return (to disbelief). 15 The Day We will strike with the greatest assault, indeed, We will take retribution. 16 ۞ Already before them We tried the people of Pharaoh, and a noble Messenger came unto them, 17 "Give in unto me, O God's bondmen! Verily, I am an apostle [sent] unto you, worthy of trust! 18 Do not consider yourselves above God. I shall show you a manifest authority (in support of my truthfulness). 19 I seek protection from my Lord and your Lord from your decision of stoning me. 20 If you do not believe in me, at least keep away from me." 21 Moses addressed his Lord, saying, "Lord, these people are sinners". 22 'Then set thou forth with My servants in a watch of the night; surely you will be followed. 23 And leave the sea behind you as calm as ever. Surely they are an army that is doomed to be drowned.” 24 How many were the gardens and the watersprings that they left behind, 25 and cornfields and splendid buildings, 26 And the delights which they had been enjoying! 27 Even so (it was), and We made it an inheritance for other folk; 28 And the heavens and the earth wept not over them, nor were they respited. 29
