Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 Verily We have sent it down on a blessed night, verily We were to become warners. 3 (We revealed it on the Night) wherein every matter is wisely determined 4 By command, from Our Presence. For We (ever) send (revelations), 5 As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 6 the Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them: if you would only have sure faith. 7 There is no god but He; He gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of yore. 8 But they are in doubt, amusing themselves. 9 So watch for the day when the sky begins to emit clear smoke, 10 enveloping all mankind, [and causing the sinners to exclaim:] "Grievous is this suffering! 11 [They will say], "Our Lord, remove from us the torment; indeed, we are believers." 12 How could this punishment bring them to their senses when a Messenger evidently had come to them, 13 and they turned away, saying, "He is a trained and insane person". 14 Verily We shall remove the torment for a while; but verily ye shall revert. 15 The day when We will seize with the greatest seizure We will indeed take revenge. 16 ۞ Indeed before that We subjected the Pharaonites to the same test. A noble Messenger came to them 17 Saying: "Restore to me the Servants of Allah: I am to you an messenger worthy of all trust; 18 and do not exalt yourselves in defiance of Allah. I have come to you with a clear authority (as a Messenger). 19 "And truly, I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me (or call me a sorcerer or kill me). 20 And if you do not believe in me, then leave me alone. 21 And he cried unto his Lord, (saying): These are guilty folk. 22 And [God said]: "Go thou forth with My servants by night, for you will surely be pursued; 23 "And leave the sea as it is (quiet and divided). Verily, They are a host to be drowned." 24 How many gardens did they leave behind, and how many fountains 25 And cornfields and goodly positions. 26 and pleasant things in which they delighted! 27 Even so; and We bequeathed them upon another people. 28 Neither heaven nor earth wept for them, nor were they respited; 29

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
