The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
