We created man -- We know the promptings of his soul, and are closer to him than his jugular vein -- 16 Behold, two (guardian angels) appointed to learn (his doings) learn (and noted them), one sitting on the right and one on the left. 17 He does not utter a single word, without a ready recorder seated next to him. 18 And when the agony of death comes in truth (they will say): 'This is what you have been trying to avoid' 19 And the trumpet will be blown: this is the Day of the Threatening. 20 Each soul shall come with a driver, and a witness. 21 (It will be said to the sinners): "Indeed you were heedless of this, now We have removed your covering, and sharp is your sight this Day!" 22 And his comrade shall say, 'This is what I have, made ready.' 23 "Cast each stubborn unbeliever into Hell," (they will be told), 24 every hinderer of the good, transgressor, disquieter, 25 Who made [as equal] with Allah another deity; then throw him into the severe punishment." 26 ۞ His companion will say: "O Lord, I did not lead him to wickedness, but he was himself far astray." 27 He (Allah) will say: 'Do not dispute before Me. I sent you a warning beforehand. 28 The judgment passed by Me shall not be altered; but never do I do the least wrong unto My creatures!" 29
