It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein. 16 [And so,] whenever the two demands [of his nature] come face to face, contending from the right and from the left, 17 not a word he utters, but by him is an observer ready. 18 And the agony of death cometh in truth. (And it is said unto him): This is that which thou wast wont to shun. 19 And the Trumpet was blown; “This is the Day of the promised punishment.” 20 And every soul will come, with it a driver and a witness. 21 (It will be said:) "Thou wast heedless of this; now have We removed thy veil, and sharp is thy sight this Day!" 22 And his companion (angel) will say: "Here is (this Record) ready with me!" 23 (They will be told,) "Throw into hell every persistent disbelievers, 24 who is an opponent of good, a suspicious transgressor 25 who has set up another god besides God: cast him into severe punishment" -- 26 ۞ His satanic companion will say, "Our Lord, I did not mislead him, but he himself went astray". 27 He saith: Contend not in My presence, when I had already proffered unto you the warning. 28 The sentence that cometh from Me cannot be changed, and I am in no wise a tyrant unto the slaves. 29
