Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 then the bearers of weight (the clouds), 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 And those who distribute (it) by command, 4 indeed, that which you are promised is true, 5 and surely the Doom is about to fall! 6 By the heaven containing pathways, 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside. 9 Woe to the falsehood-mongers,- 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 (It is) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire, 13 "Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!" 14 As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs, 15 Taking what their Lord gives them; surely they were before that, the doers of good. 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith. 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. 23
