Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 And those (angels) who distribute (provisions, rain, and other blessings) by (Allah's) Command; 4 surely that you are promised is true, 5 and, verily, judgment is bound to come! 6 By heaven with all its tracks 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 and perverted therefrom are some. 9 Destroyed are the falsifiers 10 Those who (flounder) heedless in a flood of confusion: 11 They ask, "When it will be the Day of Judgment?" 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, 15 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): 16 sleeping little in the night-time, 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 and in their wealth there was a rightful share for him who would ask and for the destitute. 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 And in yourselves. Then will you not see? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth it is sure, even as it is a fact that ye are speaking. 23
