Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen. 6 By the heaven with its passages, 7 your ideas are confused. 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 who are heedless in the immersion. 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 [It is] the Day they will be tormented over the Fire 13 and will be told, "Suffer the torment which you wanted to experience immediately". 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 They shall receive what their Lord will bestow on them. They have done good works in the past, 16 They used to sleep but little in the night. 17 and at dawn would ask forgiveness, 18 and in their wealth was a share for whosoever asked and for whosoever was prevented. 19 AND ON EARTH there are signs [of God's existence, visible] to all who are endowed with inner certainty, 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 In the sky is your provision and that which you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is certainly the truth. It is as true as your ability to speak. 23
