Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the winds which scatter dust, 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 And those that glide with ease (upon the sea) 3 And those who distribute (blessings) by command, 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 and surely the Doom is about to fall! 6 By the heaven full of paths. 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 Doomed are the conjecturers 10 Those who are in heedlessness neglectful. 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient." 14 Indeed the pious are among Gardens and water springs. 15 Accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith. 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
