Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water; 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 and distributing the command of God at His behest! 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 and, verily, judgment is bound to come! 6 By the Sky with (its) numerous Paths, 7 Most surely you are at variance with each other in what you say, 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 The day they will be burnt in the Fire, 13 (and be told): “Taste your ordeal! This is what you were seeking to hasten.” 14 As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 And in the morning they asked forgiveness. 18 and [would assign] in all that they possessed a due share unto such as might ask [for help] and such as might suffer privation. 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 As also in your own selves: Will ye not then see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and that which ye are promised. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as true as your speech. 23
