Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 And those who move (on the water) gently, 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 And undoubtedly justice will surely be done. 6 By the Sky with (its) numerous Paths, 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 Only those who are destined to revert, are reverted from it. 9 Death to those whose opinions are merely baseless conjectures. 10 Who are lost in deception. 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 (It is) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire, 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Surely those who fear God and follow the straight path will be amidst gardens and fresh springs of water, 15 taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. 16 they would lie asleep during but a small part of the night, 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 They assigned a share of their property for the needy and the destitute. 19 And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure. 20 And (also) in yourselves. Can ye then not see? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as true as your speech. 23
