Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrael (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrahim (Abraham)? 24 When they came to him and said, “Peace”; he answered, “Peace”; and thought, “These people are not familiar.” 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat? 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: fear not. And they gave him the tidings of a youth knowing. 28 Then his wife came forward, making moan, and smote her face, and cried: A barren old woman! 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They replied: “Behold, we have been sent to a wicked people 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 “That are kept marked, with your Lord, for the transgressors.” 34 We saved all the faithful in the town. 35 And We found not within them other than a [single] house of Muslims. 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant, 38 But he turned to his counsellors, and said: "He is a magician or lunatic." 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. He became an object of much blame. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 It left out nothing in its path, but which it split up into fragments. 42 And in Samood: When it was said to them: Enjoy yourselves for a while. 43 But they rebelled against the command of their Lord. So the thunderbolt overtook them while they looked on: 44 So they were not able to rise up, nor could they defend themselves- 45 And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient. 46
