The folk of Lot denied the messengers (of Allah), 160 Recall, when their brother Lot said to them: "Have you no fear? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 So fear Allah and obey me. 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 They said: "O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." 167 He said: "I do detest your doings." 168 My Lord! Save me and my household from what they do. 169 So We saved him and all his people, 170 all but an old woman, who was among those that stayed behind; 171 But the rest We destroyed utterly. 172 And We rained on them a rain (of torment). And how evil was the rain of those who had been warned. 173 Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 174 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
