Hast thou received the story of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers." 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 and laid it before them, saying: “Will you not eat?” 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 His wife came forward, crying and beating her face, saying, "I am an old barren woman!" 29 They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ He said: what then is your errand! O ye sent ones! 31 They said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in Allah); 32 to let loose upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement, 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 We therefore found just one house over there that was Muslim. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the afflictive torment. 37 And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant, 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 So We seized him and his armies, and threw them into the sea, for he was worthy of blame. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in (the tribe of) Thamud (there is a portent) when it was told them: Take your ease awhile. 43 But they brazenly disobeyed their Lord's command, and then a sudden chastisement overtook them while they looked on. 44 and they were not able to stand upright, and were not helped. 45 And the people of Nuh before, surely they were a transgressing people. 46
