The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
