The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 On an open record. 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 such as play at plunging, 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
