The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the star when it plunges, 1 Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, 4 He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 5 Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer; 9 Thus He revealed unto His bondman whatsoever He revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 Will you then argue with him about what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him another time 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What, have you males, and He females? 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
