(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 That a man receives but only that for which he strives; 39 And that his striving shall soon be seen- 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 and that the final end is unto thy Lord, 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 from an ejected drop of sperm; 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius 49 that He it is Who destroyed the ancient 'Ad, 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Approaching Day has approached. 57 Of it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover. 58 Are you astonished at this news, 59 And will you laugh and not weep? 60 indulging in carelessly idle games? 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him.
