The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 Surely there came to them narratives (of the ancient nations) that should suffice to deter (them from transgression), 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
