The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ Before them Noah's people also gave the lie (to his Message). They rejected Our servant as a liar, saying: “He is a madman”; and he was rebuffed. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 And We sent against them a howling wind in a Day of continuous of ill fortune 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
