The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
