The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 22
