The tribe of Thamud denied the Noble Messengers. 23 For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! 24 Out of all of us has the Reminder been given to him alone? Rather, he is indeed an arrogant liar' 25 "Tomorrow they will know who is the impudent liar! 26 Verily, We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So watch them [O Salih (Saleh)], and be patient! 27 Tell them that the water is to be divided between them, a drink each for them in turn' 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 And assuredly they solicited him for his guests: then We wiped out their eyes: taste then My torment and My warnings. 37 And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning. 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 40
