Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a high Garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
