Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 And they said: a mere human being from amongst us, and single! shall we follow him! verily then we should fall in error and madness. 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 (We told Our Messenger): “Tomorrow they shall know who is the insolent liar. 26 Verily We are sending the she-camel as a test for them, so watch them thou and have patience. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 Ah! how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 30 Behold, We let loose upon them one single blast [of Our punishment,] and they became like the dried-up, crumbling twigs of a sheepfold. 31 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 32 The people of Lut treated the warning. as a lie. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And he [Lout (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Grasp, but they did doubt the warnings! 36 And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." 37 One early morning Our torment brought upon them utter destruction. 38 "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 39 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 40
