Thamud denied the warning 23 So they said, “What! Shall we follow a man from among us? If we do, we are indeed astray, and insane!” 24 Out of all of us has the Reminder been given to him alone? Rather, he is indeed an arrogant liar' 25 (We told Salih), "Tomorrow they will know who is the most arrogant liar. 26 for We are [going to] send the she-camel as a trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And declare thou unto them that water hath been divided between them; every drinking shall be by turns. 28 In response they called their companion – he therefore caught and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 Ah! how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 30 We loosed against them one Cry, and they were as the wattles of a pen-builder. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lut belied the warnings. 33 Surely We sent upon them a stonestorm, except Lut's followers; We saved them a little before daybreak, 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 37 Indeed an abiding chastisement came upon them in the morning. 38 So have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings. 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
