The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created man. 3 He hath taught him utterance. 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord, will ye twain belie? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 Out of them come Pearls and Coral: 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
