The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 Taught the Quran. 2 Created man, 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 And the heaven! He hath elevated it, and He hath set the balance. 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 Which favors of your Lord will you both (humans and jinn) belie? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 and He created the jinn of a smokeless fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; 19 and between them is a barrier which they do not overpass. 20 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
