The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 Created man, 3 He taught distinctness. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 [He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets. 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. 19 but has created a barrier between them so that they will not merge totally. 20 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 21 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
