The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and banana trees, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And couches raised up. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
