The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And extended shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
