The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 on raised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
