The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 facing one another. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And raised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
