The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for those on the Right, 38
