The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the right. 38
