The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
