The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 and extended shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 So made them as maidens. 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
