The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for the people of the right hand 38
