The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
