The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
