The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and spreading shade 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the right. 38
