The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And who glide with ease. 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
