The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water gushing, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right. 38
