The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and shade extended, 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
