The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a few from later times. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And shade extended 30 and gushing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
