The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 on lavish couches 15 facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and waters gushing, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
