The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and raised couches 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
